Why Float Therapy Works

The unique environment of a float pod creates several physiological effects that contribute to its powerful benefits.

Sensory Reduction

WEIGHTLESSNESS

Welcome to floating, which can provide up to 100% pain relief. The spine naturally elongates and straightens, and the body undergoes the same regeneration process that transpires during sleep. Lactic acid is drained from the muscles, reducing soreness and recovery time.

Magnesium

SALT

Epsom Salts are great for your skin, hair, nails, and act as an exfoliate. They aid in joint pain, ease stress, and naturally relax the body. Magnesium (commonly missing from our diets) is absorbed through the skin, while Sulfate eliminates toxins and heavy metals, naturally detoxing the body.

Gravity

MEDITATION

Taking an hour of alone time (meditation), will decrease the production of cortisol, a stress hormone, leaving us feeling refreshed and serene after the float. The brain enters an elusive theta brain-wave state, associated with deep sleep and dreaming.

What should I expect on my first float? Toggle FAQ
Plan to arrive 20 minutes early for your first appointment. Just bring yourself. We provide towels, earplugs, shampoo, conditioner and body wash, and you float in your own private pod in your birthday suit, so no swimsuit is needed. You'll shower before and after your float. If you wear contacts, bring a case and solution. A standard float is 60 minutes, and longer floats of up to 2.5 hours are available. You're in control the whole time: float with the door open, the lights on or music playing until it feels right. First-timers often get the most from 2 to 3 floats close together.
Is the Vitality Suite coming to True REST Provo? Toggle FAQ
Yes. The Vitality Suite, with infrared sauna, cold plunge and red light therapy, is coming soon to True REST Provo. Call (801) 396-1064 for updates.
Is float therapy safe? Toggle FAQ
Yes, float therapy is completely safe for most people. Our float pods are designed with hygiene, comfort, and safety in mind. The water is filtered and treated after every session, and the high salt concentration naturally prevents bacteria growth. As always, we recommend checking with your healthcare provider if you have specific medical conditions.
