By: | Tags:

If you’ve floated at True REST Tempe you’ve likely seen it—sitting there in the middle of our relaxing Oasis room, looking simple enough. But, beyond the cover of our Guest Float Journal lie some of the most beautiful, poetic, honest and inspiring passages we’ve ever seen. Here are just a taste of the awesome entries tucked away in our True REST Visitors Journal, Vol I. Enjoy! ———— “So thankful that I stepped out of my  comfort zone and into the total relaxation of the float. Time is endless—and short—in this […]

Letting Go Through Control

By: | Tags:

A common concern which arises before a first float relates to control—at True REST we’re proud to offer an experience which allows each client to control every aspect of their session, from music to lighting to choosing whether or not their Float Pod® lid is open or closed. But, in addition to these added options, flotation therapy itself already offers an experience in which we have much greater control than in our daily lives. This unique offering of control and the solo nature of floats sets flotation apart from many […]

Finding Freedom through Float Therapy

By: | Tags:

Float therapy has lots to offer: pain relief, deep relaxation, better sleep, time to ourselves…but these various benefits all stem from one core theme; one key offering: Freedom. We can be free from things: the busy rush of life, pain, society, our troubles— or a time—and this escape is found within a Float Pod. However, floating’s impact is more substantial, stretching beyond freedom from, and also holding the promise of freedom to. Freedom to rebuild strength and range of motion in the absence of pain, to awake feeling refreshed, to […]

Recharge Your Batteries with a Float!

By: | Tags:

Most of us are pretty dang busy—we talk about it all the time! Inevitably living full-speed ahead eventually begins to feel tiring and draining. This low energy isn’t a failure, it’s the natural way of things: we ebb and we flow, we pour out and then find ourselves in need of filling up. Life moves in cycles, just like the hands of a clock as they circle us through the day. Coffee and energy drinks can give us a quick boost of stimulus—not energy. Through the stress response these beverages […]

Give Floats a Chance: The Importance of Deep Relaxation.

By: | Tags:

We take our cars in for oil changes and our recyclables to the curb—but what about our stress? So often the insidious, daily buildup of stress and tension is simply left to build until it overflows. In truth, it’s no wonder, with relaxation rarely celebrated in our culture—often seen as a luxury, or something to be earned, when, in reality relaxation is an important piece of the puzzle! Our daily stresses might be more subtle, and invisible to outsiders—but we’ve all got them, and we just plain feel better in […]

Float Therapy: Release Gravity and Pain

By: | Tags:

After John C Lilly, the pioneer in developing sensory deprivation (float therapy), broke multiple bones in a bicycle accident, he decided to float and see if it could offer him some relief. Sure enough, he said: “There, I was free from the pain, without drugs, for the first time since I had had the accident. That’s because the tank frees up all the pain due to gravity” It’s true, floating does release gravity’s impact—relieving a tremendous amount of tension, stress and pain. But it also creates the perfect environment to […]

Observing Your Float Journey

By: | Tags:

As you begin your own journey into floating, its valuable to regularly reflect on your experiences in the Float Pod—both individually, and as a whole, as your floats and experiences will inevitably evolve! We always recommend floaters spend a few minutes after their session ends enjoying their relaxed state, and this is also the perfect time for observing how the float has made a difference. Keeping track of your “progress” not only allows you to see what benefits floating has in store for you, but can also tune you into […]

Fill Up to Pour Out!

By: | Tags:

From time to time, hectic weeks arise when I say to myself: “I’ve got too much going on—I’m too busy to float”. Then I pause and realize that the very fact I feel this way means it is time I get in a Float Pod. Oftentimes societal views of success are strictly linked to productivity—and focus heavily on linear progress—always doing more, achieving and striving. As we start to do more and more and our demands seem to pick up pace, it’s easy to conclude that the best solution is […]
